“My father was very ill, we could not treat him, so he passed away. Then our mother died.” Bakhtawar’s voice cracks as she recalls the day her father fell ill. With each word, the weight of those losses feels as fresh as if they happened yesterday. She was just a child when both of her parents passed away, leaving her and her seven siblings to face the world without the love and guidance they so desperately needed.
The grief is visible in her eyes, yet there is a quiet strength beneath it. Despite the overwhelming pain of losing both parents, Bakhtawar’s resolve hasn’t wavered. She continues, "The world changed for us in an instant." The hope that kept her going, even in the darkest moments, was the belief that education could provide a way out—an escape from the poverty and loss that have defined her young life.
“There was no way to get treatment for my father, and when he died, it felt like our world was over," she shares, her voice full of sorrow. But soon after, they lost their mother too. The pain of losing both parents in such a short time was unbearable, yet Bakhtawar still found the strength to care for her siblings.
"Education is the way out," she says, her voice steady now, as she looks ahead. "I want to learn, to give my brothers and sisters a chance for a better life. If I can study, I can help them too." It’s a quiet but powerful declaration from a young girl who, despite everything, refuses to surrender to the weight of her circumstances.
Her world may have shattered, but Bakhtawar’s determination to rebuild it for her siblings remains unbroken. She knows that, without education, there is little hope. Her courage to keep going, to strive for a better future, is what drives her forward—despite the absence of her parents.
Bakhtawar and her siblings still face an uncertain future, but with your help, they don’t have to face it alone. Through donations to support their education, food, and clothing, you can be a part of their journey toward healing and hope. Every contribution, no matter the size, can make a world of difference for this young girl and her siblings who are determined to build a brighter future from the rubble of their past.
No child should ever have to fight for survival alone. And with your help, Bakhtawar and her siblings can rise above the hardship that has tried to define them.
