"I work as a labourer while sitting. When there is no work available, I go to work at a brick kiln. Sometimes we eat, and sometimes we stay hungry."
In the village of Saeed Kaharro, Misri’s life is one of daily hardship. Despite the paralysis in his arm and the health challenges that he faces, he has never given up on providing for his family. Every day is a battle against the odds, but Misri continues to fight—because he is a father, and his family depends on him.
His words are filled with quiet strength and the weight of a man who has known struggle for far too long. “I am in a very helpless state,” he shares. “The condition of my household is very poor. I earn just enough to feed my children one meal a day.”
Misri’s world is a constant balancing act of hope and despair. His daily earnings are so meagre that providing more than one meal a day for his children seems like an impossible dream. And yet, despite the odds, Misri keeps pushing forward for their sake. His children, unable to attend school, remain caught in a cycle of poverty with little hope for a brighter future.
“I want my children to have a better life,” Misri says, the weight of his responsibility pressing down on him. But the harsh reality is that his earnings are barely enough to cover their most basic needs. The dream of education, of a life beyond the struggle for food, seems unreachable
Misri’s Dream: A Shop and a Future for His Family
Even in his toughest moments, Misri holds onto a dream—a dream of a future where his children can eat regularly, receive an education, and live without the daily threat of hunger. But to make this dream a reality, Misri needs help. “If I could just start a small shop,” he says, “I could earn a steady income and no longer have to worry about where the next meal is coming from.”
Misri’s dream isn’t just about his own survival—it’s about giving his family the opportunity for a better future. But the path to that future is obstructed by debt and the lack of resources. Misri also carries the burden of a loan that he cannot repay alone. “I have a loan that I cannot pay,” he says quietly. “It is a heavy weight on my shoulders, and it keeps me up at night.”
To turn his dreams into reality, Misri needs:
• £285 to establish a small shop, providing him with a sustainable livelihood.
• £130 to repay his loan, freeing him from the constant stress and financial pressure.
Zakat: A Powerful Way to Lift Misri’s Burden
In Islam, Zakat is a means of helping those in need, lifting them from hardship, and providing them with the opportunity to rebuild their lives. Allah reminds us: “The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allah is like a seed of grain which sprouts seven ears, each containing a hundred grains” (2:261).
By supporting Misri, you can fulfil an act of charity that not only helps him to provide for his family today but also empowers him to secure a better future for them. Your Zakat donation can help Misri move from survival to stability, and break the chains of poverty that have bound his family for so long.
